All Your RC Aeroplane Needs

Indoor RC Plane

Flying an indoor rc plane is becoming more popular among RC plane hobbyists because the components are becoming tinier and lighter. In addition, they are very convenient when you are in the mood to fly but you don’t have the time to make it to the flying field and the weather is just uncooperative.

The determining factors in an indoor RC plane are the size of your venue and the size of the aircraft. Big spaces like gymnasiums, sports halls and empty plane hangers will be great locations for indoor flying. Since more people are becoming more interested in this hobby, there are more venues that hold RC flying meetings.

An indoor RC plane can be purchased in almost-ready-to fly (ARF) and ready-to-fly (RTF) radio control plane models, unlike in the past years when modelers had to build their own either from scratch or by altering free-flight indoor kits.

There are various sizes for indoor RC airplanes. The general size categories are regular-sized, mini and micro RC aircrafts. Indoor RC airplanes are typically small but they can take much more abuse than the conventional ones.

An example of a regular-sized indoor RC plane is the ParkZone Sukhoi SU-26XP. It is a mid-wing, four-channel fully-aerobatic aircraft. It has long-stoke servos, which offer maximum control deflections for extreme aerobatics. It has a pre-installed 2.4Ghz DSM2 radio system that can be flown with ease in any suitable indoor space. The only downside is that even if it only has a 15-inch wingspan, it can take up an unexpectedly large amount of airspace, which is relative to its size. Therefore, the Sukhoi SU-26XP needs a bigger indoor venue.

The Mini Super Cub RTF, on the other hand, is a mini indoor RC plane with a three-channel plane that features HobbyZone’s anti-crash technology, allowing the plane to automatically return to straight or normal position and level flight during difficulties. It has a wingspan of 31.75 inches or 806 millimeters.

An example of a micro indoor RC plane is the Palm-RC Micro, which is an infrared-controlled plane. It features a fast-charging facility to allow long flight times and great performance even in the smallest of spaces. It is easily controlled like Palm-RC Micro helicopters with a two-channel remote control. It is an RTF craft with a single powerful micro motor. This indoor craft can do stunts in small areas like your bedroom, living room or office. It is made of tough expanded polypropylene to endure rough landings.
