Since glow fuel is alcohol-based, the purpose of this last step is to refrain from drawing water contents from the atmosphere that will cause the rusting of steel bearings.
The second important step for engine maintenance is to always clean your RC airplane engines. People use different kinds of cleaning agents but the recommended cleaner is the green degreaser. Aside from being cost-effective, this cleaner is safe no matter how bad the covering is. Green degreasers can clean plastic, paint or fabric safely and thoroughly. Mixing one part of green degreaser with eight parts of water in a spray bottle is an effective way to clean an RC model airplane body. This mixture is also safe to use for the finish of the aircraft, unlike ammonia-based cleaners that can harm it.
