RC Float Plane

Living near bodies of water like the sea or lake is very advantageous for hobbyists who enjoy an rc float plane.

An RC float plane is made from sturdy and lightweight foam and pre-bent wire rods that goes into the landing gear slots on the underside of the fuselage. The added weight makes the plane more stable but it also increases the risk of crashes if the person who powers it loses control. Attention should be given to the current wind speed and direction in order to make up for the weight increase.

When it comes to landing an RC float plane, you must be very careful since it is something you don’t want to get wrong or you’ll end up with a damaged one. The secret to a safe water landing is to land parallel to any chop. An example for this is landing along the lines of the waves, and not perpendicular to them. This prevents the chances of the plane float to dig into a wave and the RC plane to flip over.

Make sure to always check your RC float plane after a flight. You don’t want to any water to get into the float itself since it will unbalance the entire aircraft. Floats need to be thoroughly cleaned to eliminate mold, mildew or other foreign contaminants. If your floats get damaged, take immediate action for repairs or replacements to avoid ruining its ability to take off, fly or safely land.
